CD Review
O's Notes: Jamie places his raspy baritone vocals in front of a big band bringing us showtime jazz! And he allows the band to stretch out including many strong solos throughout. The program is a dozen popular and jazz classics from Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" to Monk's "Straight No Chaser" including some scatting. His tone is spot on with "Night and Day" and indicative of Davis excellence throughout. Jamie is based in San Francisco where he is well known. While he has performed in Europe as well as touring with the Count Basie Orchestra, this release should put him on the front burner! There is also a "Making of DVD" which embellishes the performance.
