This CD introduces to a wider world the popular San
Francisco-based singer Jamie Davis. Backed here by
a powerful big band playing Count Basie-inspired charts
with fire and precision Jamie romps through songs
such as 'Isn't She Lovely', 'Night And Day', 'Every
Day I Have The Blues', 'The Very Thought Of You' and
'Alright, Okay, You Win' with flair and enthusiasm.
Among the instrumentalists on hand are trumpeters
Scotty Bernhardt and Chuck Findlay, drummer Butch
Miles, saxophonists Marshall McDonald and Scott Jepperson,
and pianist Tony Suggs. Leading the band is Shelly
Berg, who also contributes one of the charts; mostly
these are by Bob Ojeda, with others by Aaron Lington,
Allyn Ferguson, Tom Hart and Marcus Shelby. In addition
to the CD, the package comes with a DVD that features
excerpts from the recording session and interviews
with several of the band's members as well as the
singer himself. Release date for this set is 13 June
2006
